Piano Game Printable: Intervals Meet Animal Sounds

Interval recognition is about to get a whole lot more exciting—because today we’re serving up a piano card game that’s stuffed with skill-building fun.

Meet InterFULL: a quick-flip card game where players try to predict the interval between two notes—2nds, 3rds, 4ths, or 5ths. If they’re right, they collect the cards… but when the flipped notes match, it’s time for a well-timed bark or a very committed meow.

This free interval game for piano students is the first of several surprises we’ll be sharing as we count down to next week’s release of Andrea and Trevor Dow’s Very Useful Piano Board Games: Level 1A Game Pack.

So print InterFULL, prep those animal sounds, and stay tuned—your Level 1 students are in for one wildly fun week of learning.

How To Play InterFULL

To play InterFULL, you’ll use two decks of cards included in the download. Players flip cards from each deck after trying to predict the interval between the two notes—2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th. If they guess correctly, they collect the cards.

But here’s where it gets delightfully ridiculous: if the two flipped notes are the same, players race to make an animal sound—either a meow or a woof—before their opponent does. It’s fast, funny, and surprisingly effective at reinforcing visual interval recognition.

The player with the most cards at the end wins… though we’d argue the true victory belongs to the one who meowed the loudest.

Complete instructions (including setup, gameplay, and tie-breaker tips) are included in the download below… but first:
