The best piano games are the ones that make essential concepts feel like play. And when those concepts involve keyboard awareness and the names of the white keys, a clever board game can work wonders.
Our newest printable piano game, Sleepy Keys, was made for early primer students. It’s creative, cute, and just the right amount of silly—making it the perfect break from the bench that still keeps learning front and center.
Designed to pair with Unit 4 in the newly released second edition of WunderKeys Primer Piano Book One, this board game reinforces keyboard awareness in a playful, low-pressure way.
Let’s take a look!

How To Play Sleepy Keys
In Sleepy Keys, two players sit side by side with the game board in front of them and the deck of cards nearby. Each player places their marker on a starting circle and gets ready to race.
A card is flipped to reveal the name of a white key. Both players then roll their dice, trying to match the number to the black key group the white key touches—2 for a group of two black keys, or 3 for a group of three.
The first player to roll correctly stays put! The losing player must roll their die again and move their marker forward. If they land on a white sheep, play continues. If they land on a black sheep… it’s game over!
