The calendar has flipped over to October and the “Holiday Whirlwind Season” has begun.
October 1st marks the date when piano teachers can begin using all kinds of thematic materials in their lessons; first Halloween, then Thanksgiving, and finally Christmas!
And while this whirlwind is short, it’s a fabulous time in a piano teacher’s calendar year.
Not only are your students extra motivated by thematic materials, but this motivation comes when school routines are finally in place and students have brushed off their summer cobwebs.
Today we’re kicking off the Holiday Whirlwind Season with Halloween Clip Cards that can be used to reinforce note reading with primer and level 1 piano students.

The level 1 method you use is more important than you may initially think. Primer books set the stage for future learning, but your level 1 books are what turn those initial skills into true music-making.

Download Our Note Reading Clip Cards
Today’s note-reading clip cards have a spooky Halloween theme and will give your students the hands-on opportunities they need to reinforce note reading in the Bass C, Middle C, and Treble C Five-Finger Scales.
After printing and cutting the cards, instruct your students to clip a paper clip or clothespin to the note image that responds to the note name on each card.
