My fondest piano lesson memories were when my teacher would greet me with completely unexpected and new activities. I especially appreciated this during weeks when I was feeling a tad unmotivated to attend my lesson.
What a surge of happiness I would feel when she’d open the studio door and show me a fun resource we were about to use. Those “blah” feelings I had would disappear, and I would leave my lesson that week re-motivated to hit the keys at home.
Those days were like a reset button on my piano lesson experience that kept me coming back week after week, and year after year.
Because Halloween is halfway between the start of the school year and the winter holidays, it is a wonderful opportunity to motivate any students who might be feeling “blah.”
