Sarah’s Success Story

When most people go to work, their children go to school… unless you are a piano teacher. When piano teachers go to work, their children come home from school. And this can make life complicated.

Sarah Daltrey knows this all too well. And it’s why, with a young daughter, she took a break from teaching in 2008 and went to work at an office instead.

“I took a part time office job so I could work school hours – I hated it!”

Wanting to escape her office job, Sarah started looking for ways to make piano teaching work during the day. And that’s when she stumbled upon WunderKeys.

“Local piano teachers wouldn’t take on anyone under the age of 7, and I had never taken students on that young either!”

Before WunderKeys, Sarah had turned away many parents who were looking for piano lessons for their preschool-aged children. “I would tell anyone who enquired about piano lessons for little ones that their children were probably too young and to try a generic music group or class for little ones. This makes me so sad now – I wished I’d known then!”

Sarah quickly recognize the benefits of the WunderKeys program.

“It was aimed at the exact age I wanted to attract… kids who can come to lessons during the school day!”

And she was amazed at all WunderKeys had to offer, from the “amazing, modern and engaging pieces” to the duets, the listening games and the free advertising and marketing materials.

Sarah combined the advertising materials with some creative marketing to create a studio growth machine. She approached local nursery schools to offer WunderKeys demo lessons and musical visits. After her visits she hung posters and left flyers for parents.

It wasn’t long before her phone started to ring.

Many parents who contacted Sarah were initially skeptical about starting their young children. But this is where her offer of a free month trial worked wonders.

“99% of families stayed after the trial.”

After that… Sarah’s studio took off. In that same year, her piano studio, The Bee’s Keys, grew from five students to 30 students.

“After several nursery school visits in October, my student numbers grew to 19 students, ten of whom were using WunderKeys. A steady increase of students meant by the end of the school year I had 30 students, 17 of those were WunderKeys students.”

Today, Sarah’s studio has grown to 79 piano students.

With a rapidly-growing studio, Sarah has had to take on another teacher to work with WunderKeys kids.

“Thank you Andrea, Thank you Trevor – and thank you to all the teachers who comment and support in the amazing online WunderKeys community that you have brought together.”
