Piano Play Dough Mats To Reinforce Preschool Listening Skills

Preschool piano students are hands-on learners. Whenever possible, they need to get off of the bench to explore musical concepts in age-appropriate ways.

And few things are more age-appropriate and loved by preschoolers than play dough!

Today we are sharing printable play dough mats that you can use to help your littlest piano players gain an understanding of high and low sounds and long and short sounds.

Play dough is a preschool piano teacher’s secret weapon. The simple act of rolling the dough can have a wonderfully calming effect on young children. For this reason, it is a great tool for focusing their attention when exploring piano concepts.

Before getting started with today’s activities, you will want to print and laminate (important!) the play dough mats below. Using play dough on unlamented paper will ruin the mats.

Then, when you’re ready to get started with a preschooler, choose the mat that reinforces the listening skill you’d like your little one to learn and follow along with the simple instructions.

Our play dough mats are the perfect accessories to use with Unit 5 and Unit 7 in WunderKeys Piano For Preschoolers, Book 1. Our revolutionary approach to teaching piano to preschoolers is helping teachers fill their schedules in no time flat! If you’re not yet teaching preschoolers, get started here with these books today.
