As the new school year kicks off, it’s a great opportunity to get your students excited about their upcoming piano progress. Do you have a tool they can use to track their musical milestones? This week, we’re excited to share our latest pack of printables: Piano Playing Logs.
We have created six different piano playing logs. There’s one for each of the following levels: Primer, 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B, and a generic log. Each is designed to help your students monitor their progress and stay motivated.
Tracking completed pieces is more than just a record-keeping exercise. It gives students a sense of accomplishment, boosts confidence, and reinforces their progress. Watching their list grow inspires them to keep going.

Why Piano Playing Logs Are A Game Changer
Piano playing logs are more than just records; they’re powerful tools that transform the learning experience. The benefits include:
Sense of Accomplishment: Seeing a log filled with completed pieces gives students a clear sense of their achievements. Each piece added boosts their confidence and motivation. As their list grows, so does their sense of success.
Skill Development Awareness: Piano playing logs help students recognize their expanding repertoire. They see the variety and complexity of the pieces they’ve mastered. This awareness encourages and inspires further practice.
Goal Setting and Progress Monitoring: Logs serve as a basis for setting future goals. Tracking their progress over time makes practice more structured and focused.
Teacher and Parental Insight: Logs provide transparency for teachers and parents. By maintaining a record of completed pieces, everyone understands a student’s progress better. This insight facilitates personalized guidance and support.
Portfolio for Recitals and Exams: Detailed logs serve as valuable portfolios for recitals, exams, and auditions. They showcase a student’s dedication and range of skills. A log provides a tangible representation of their musical journey.
