It’s pretty common for people to want to develop some positive habits in January.
But positive habits, like piano practice, don’t happen overnight. It takes time. Some studies say it takes 21 days to develop a habit.
Regardless of the science, two things are for certain: 1. January is a great time for piano students to start developing good practice habits, and 2. Good practice habits will only develop when kids play the piano daily.
Today’s cute Color-It Practice Tracker will inspire your students to make great practice habits a priority in 2021.

Piano Practice Should Begin With These Daily Exercises
Our Color-it Practice Tracker (see download instructions below) is a good first step to help students commit to daily practice.
But for daily practice to happen, kids need specific practice tasks. It is not enough to simply assign a piano piece as practice.
Piano students need simple and very specific tasks that they can “check off” each day.
Our resource, Andrea And Trevor Dow’s Technical Exercises For Note Reading Success makes assigning piano practice easy.
With over one hundred pages of technical exercises for kids working in Middle C Position and C Position, there is something every day that students can work on.

Exciting Pre-Announcement! Our second book in this series, for kids working in a level 1 method book, will be released in just a few short weeks.
