As your primer piano students begin reading on the grand staff, it’s helpful to have a varied set of resources you can use to prevent note-reading frustrations before they begin. Children learn in a variety of ways, and therefore, having a variety of teaching methods (like today’s primer piano sing-along) at your disposal is beneficial.
While we often share note reading games that engage your visual learners, our note reading sing-along will engage your auditory learners.
Two commonly-confused notes for primer students are Bass Staff B and Treble Staff D.
In WunderKeys Primer Book 1, Lesson 6, students practice identifying B vs D by imagining B as a “bunny peeking out of its hole” and D as a “dog digging a hole below the staff”.
Today’s sing-along song brings this imagery to life with funny lyrics that will have your students smiling while memorizing these two notes.

A Primer Piano Sing-Along For Note Reading Success
The “B vs D” printable below can be used along with WunderKeys Primer Book 1, Lesson 6, and repeated until your student gains note-reading confidence. The activity contains sheet music to be played by you (the teacher) and lyrics to be sung by you and your students.
