We’ve talked before about the dreaded summer slide: the loss of piano skills that results from an extended break.
But it isn’t just a summer phenomenon. It occurs any time regular skill progression is interrupted.
December is one of these times, and it’s an especially sneaky time.
With kids still attending lessons, one assumes that they are progressing. But December’s lessons are often interruptive and if we don’t make a conscious effort to monitor learning, skills can slide.
To keep kids progressing, we have been sharing a ton of theory-based activities with winter and holiday themes.
Today is no exception. In the post, you will find a Christmas Score Study that helps primer students with note reading and repertoire preparation.

Do You Have Your January Method Books?
Today’s Christmas Score Study is available at the bottom of the post but first…
Most likely, your piano students will take a two-week break from the piano over the holidays. And by break I mean… the keys will be gathering dust!
When they return to lessons in January it will be important to hit the ground running. This means that now is the time to stock up on any method books your kids will need.
With the WunderKeys Method Books, you have motivating and pedagogically perfect music for all ages.
Below we are showcasing our primer method books. Click on a cover to pick one up today!
