Another Easter Game! Reinforce Finger Numbers With Primer Students

Like excited little bunnies, your youngest primer piano students will be bouncing off the walls next week.

Whether their excitement is from the anticipation of Easter or the chocolate eggs that come early, they will need a variety of activities to keep their attention.

In today’s post, we are sharing an Easter-themed finger number game.

As your early primer students search the game board for finger numbers, they will be prepping their egg hunting skills for Easter morning 🙂

Before You Download Today’s Piano Game

The piano game we’re sharing at the bottom of today’s post has been created to correspond with our pre-reading piano book, Glissando and the Slimy Songbook, V. U. Level A.

Glissando and the Slimy Songbook is an innovative pre-reading resource that uses Wunder Dot Notation on the Wunder Staff.

If you have used Chillin’ on the Black Keys, V. U. Level B, or Nuts For Alpha Notes, V. U. Level C, then you are already familiar with the Wunder Staff.

The Wunder Staff is an innovative pre-reading music staff that facilitates a student’s visual recognition of directional movement when reading Wunder Dots (in Level A), finger number notes (in Level B), and alpha notes (in Level C).

So, what are Wunder Dots?

Wunder Dots are finger number symbols placed on the Wunder Staff. They are a huge pedagogical advancement over the approach found in old-fashioned method books that let finger numbers just “float in space”.

As mentioned, the structured placement of Wunder Dots on the Wunder Staff allows students to read directional movement from their first piano lesson.

But there’s more!

Wunder Dots exist as finger number circles and stretched bars. The stretched bars, indicating that students should hold down a key, represent an early introduction to reading rhythmic notation; an innovation entirely unique to Andrea and Trevor Dow’s Very Useful Piano Library.

Together with the Wunder Staff, the Wunder Dot Notation found in Glissando and the Slimy Songbook will provide the strongest foundation for future learning that you will ever find in a pre-reading piano resource.
