Whether you teach kids, teens, or adults, you have probably noticed that students can read notes well in middle C position, relatively well in C position, and not very well in treble C position.
This trend is the result of students playing fewer games the longer they are in lessons.
When new students arrive in a studio, note reading gets a lot of attention. But as students begin playing more and more repertoire, there is less and less time for note reading games.
The solution, therefore, is to find a little bit of lesson time each week to reinforce note reading, or to make note reading games part of daily home practice sessions.
