If you’ve grabbed everything during our Summer Memories Song Giveaway, then your back-to-school lesson planning now includes:
- Sheldon’s beach cruising Primer 1 tune and its matching game board,
- Ruby’s “lemonade stand” Primer 2 song and its matching game board, and
- Gary’s camping chaos jingle and its… Wait, we haven’t given you a game for this.
Let’s fix that!
Today we have a great board game to reinforce C position note reading with your Primer 3 piano students.
It’s a wonderfully fun race to safety called Scary Gary and, if you know our primer character Gary, then you know that there is actually nothing scary about this game 🙂
Just good old fun with some very effective note reading reinforcement.
Scary Gary is designed to be played alongside the Primer 3 tune of the same name. The lyrics of the song recount Gary the bear’s attempts to make new friends with the people camping in his forest. As you may imagine… all does not go according to plan 🙂
Do You Have Your Level 1 Method Books?
Today’s piano game is available at the bottom of the post, but first…
Are your shelves stocked with our WunderKeys Level 1 method books?
WunderKeys Elementary Piano Levels 1A and 1B keep the fun going after primer with story-based learning, creative sight reading, technique, ear training, rhythm activities, teacher duets, and tons of piano pieces kids love to play.
Level 1A builds confident grand staff readers while introducing intervals, expressive playing, pedal, hand movement, and rhythmic accuracy.
Level 1B continues with sharps and flats, C and G five-finger scales, major and minor chords, eighth notes, and more.
Teachers love the all-in-one approach. Students love the stories, games, and music. And parents love having books their kids are actually excited to practice.
