In the piano teaching world, note reading is the pedagogical star. It is the biggest stumbling block for kids of all ages, so the attention it receives is warranted.
But for early primer piano students learning piano, note reading is only one half of the challenge. The other half… keyboard awareness.
Naming the keys on a piano can be a bigger challenge for little kids than many of us realize. To help them tackle this challenge we’ve created cut and play primer piano puzzles that your students can use to reinforce keyboard awareness.
Keyboard Awareness Primer Piano Puzzles
Today’s primer piano puzzle printable contains two sets of puzzles. The first set reinforces the keys CDE and the second set reinforces the keys FGAB.
To begin, download the primer piano puzzle printable (see below), print and cut out the puzzles, mix up the pieces and then instruct your students to put the matching puzzle pairs back together.
Our keyboard awareness puzzle pieces are a great supplement to the early units in WunderKeys Primer For Piano Book 1. You can check out our Primer 1 book here on Amazon.
